President and Chief Executive Officer
Judy Amiano became Franciscan Ministries’ President and Chief Executive Officer in October 2010. Prior to her position at Franciscan Ministries, she served as vice president of senior services for Riverside Health System, a non-profit health system located in Kankakee, Ill. She has over 30 years of experience in the medical and senior services industry with more than 20 years at the executive business management level. Judy earned a Bachelor Degree in Nursing from Valparaiso University in Valparaiso, Indiana and holds an MBA from Olivet Nazarene University in Bourbonnais, Illinois.
Chief Operating Officer
Zachary Zerbonia joined Franciscan Ministries as the new Chief Operating Officer in 2021. Prior to coming to the Ministry, Zachary served in a number of leadership roles, including Chief Operating Officer for Validus Senior Living and Senior Vice President of Operations for Brookdale Senior Living. Zachary is a well-respected senior living executive known for his ability to build high-performing teams, and lead the development of award-wining programs and services. He brings extensive experience and multifaceted skill sets to Franciscan Ministries as the company gears up for a period of rapid growth. Zachary earned an undergraduate physical therapy degree from Maryville University. He obtained an MBA from the University of Phoenix and a doctorate degree in physical therapy from Boston University.
Vice President of Mission Integration and Pastoral Care
Dawn Mayer joined Franciscan Ministries as Vice President of Mission Integration and Pastoral Care in June 2015. Dawn has over 35 years of ministerial experience in parishes, Archdiocesan administration, and senior services, always striving to create new initiatives to further the mission of the community. Before her arrival at FM, she served as the Director of Mission Integration and Pastoral Care for five years at The Village at Victory Lakes, one Franciscan Ministries’ senior living communities. Dawn has a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Loyola University and a Master’s Degree in Religious Education also from Loyola University. She is a Certified Pastoral Associate for the Archdiocese of Chicago.
Chief Financial Officer
Daniel Noonan joined Franciscan Ministries as Chief Financial Officer in June 2018. Before joining the leadership team, he served as senior vice president – chief accounting officer for Forsythe Technology, Inc. in Skokie, Illinois. In this capacity he transformed the accounting and analysis department to deliver improved results by developing more actionable reporting and by re-engineering the company wide-planning process to improve financial performance. Dan has more than 25 years of progressive leadership and finance experience. He has a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from Loyola University in Chicago, Illinois, and a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from the University of Chicago.
Vice President of Communications and Brand Strategy
Patrick Schuerer joined Franciscan Ministries as the Vice President of Communications and Brand Strategy in August 2019. Before joining the leadership team, he served as a consultant for the healthcare industry and as Vice President of Marketing for the U.S. healthcare retail operations for Connect Hearing, a division of Sonova. He led a change transformation, launching the organization’s marketing operations, and digital and brand strategies. Patrick has over 25 years of experience building unified strategies, aligning the customer and buying journey with custom content, digital, social media, eCommerce and marketing intelligence solutions. He has a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from the University of Wisconsin–Madison.
Chief People Officer
Monica Simzyk has served as the Chief People Officer for the Ministry since 2020. In her most recent role, she served as the regional human resources officer at AMITA Health, one of the largest Catholic health systems in Illinois. She brings more than 20 years of progressive human resources experience with a focus on strategic change management and business alignment, organizational effectiveness, talent management and talent acquisition. Monica earned her business degree from Northeastern Illinois University and obtained her MBA from the Keller Graduate School of Management.
Vice President of Clinical Services
David joined the Franciscan Ministries team in June 2020 as the Vice President of Clinical Services. He brings over 27 years of experience providing strategic clinical leadership in the multi-facility senior care arena, primarily skilled post-acute care, long term care and assisted living. David has served as Vice President of Clinical Operations for Integrace Health Communities in Maryland, operating skilled, assisted living, independent living and on-site clinics including Copper Ridge, a nationally recognized dementia care facility; Trinity Senior Living Communities, responsible for the clinical operations of 35 health care facilities in Michigan, Iowa, Indiana and Maryland; and as Regional Vice President of Clinical Services for Sava Senior Care, responsible for clinical operations for 148 long-term care facilities. He brings expertise and passion for analyzing, developing, and transforming strategic clinical policy at the organizational level, not only in implementing best practices but in developing and refining models of care. David received his B.S. Nursing degree from D’youville College, School of Nursing in Buffalo, NY.
