This journey is at the heart of our philosophy – Living Joyfully. Part of any journey means facing new challenges, as they are given to us. One of those challenges certainly was COVID-19. Our residents, their family members and all of our staff faced this challenge together and we are stronger for it. It’s time to look forward – forward to new opportunities.
From the beginning of the pandemic, we quickly developed an internal task force devoted to COVID-19 that included healthcare, risk management, human resources, communication, clinical and community executive directors. This specialized team continues to manage Franciscan Ministries through this pandemic, as well as managing the future needs of our communities to ensure that we have a safe, secure and healthy environment for everyone.

As we reopen for limited tours, special attention and procedures are still in place to ensure the safety of everyone; including the use of proper face protection as well as the monitoring of associates and residents, on a daily basis, for symptoms or any health concerns related to the virus are detected.
Life Enrichment continues to engage residents through socially-distanced programming which include proper cleaning procedures before and after each activity. We have featured live music in the courtyards and dance parties in hallways with residents participating from their apartments. We have also featured karaoke, trivia and other games and activities as well as rolling happy hours with a mobile bar cart featuring beers, wine and spirits in all of the communities. We continue to maintain culinary excellence by ensuring all residents receive exceptional menu choices. We reopened our dining areas in phases, limiting residents to one dining experience per day, spacing tables apart to adhere to social distancing. All communities have enjoyed custom, handcrafted food and beverage choices throughout the pandemic. We have modified the place, but not the service, to ensure our commitment to excellence.
We continue to leverage new and innovative ways to communicate via tablets and smartphones to connect with family and friends. Some of our residents have become experts with FaceTime, Zoom and Skype. Additionally we are expanding our outreach communication to our residents and family members.
