“Each year the Monarch Butterflies of the northeast and Canada start an amazing migration that will take 4 generations to complete! The migration is spectacular for the distance that a single Monarch Butterfly has to travel to make it to the winter resting ground in Mexico. It also is amazing that we have discovered that it is the 4th generation, born in Canada that flies 5000 miles to the mountain tops around Angangueo Mexico! Scientists are still researching to find an explanation for how these butterflies to know where to congregate together and why it takes three generations for Monarchs to return to Canada.” This class is in partnership with The Chicago Botanic Garden.
