Along with Lifelong Learning Institute, presented in partnership with Harper College, Addolorata Villa brings you our Summer of Learning Series!

The second of our series is on Wednesday, July 17th. During this program, we will discuss Chicago’s Golden Age of Department Stores. For decades, Chicago was home to some of the nation’s grandest department stores. Clustered mostly along a mile-long stretch of State Street, stores like Marshall Fields, Carson, Pirie, Scott, Sears, Wieboldt’s and Goldblatt’s set new standards for retail innovation, customer services and visual display. Generations of Chicagoans trekked to these stores for holiday shopping, celebrations, and fun. This fun nostalgic lecture uses photographs and memorabilia to revisit Chicago’s fabulous retail emporiums and explore their rise and fall.

Seating is limited. RSVP online or to Liz Starman at (847) 808-4421 or email estarman@franciscancommunities.com.
